The traditional Holy Thursday adoration pilgrimage to churches, also known as the "Seven Church Visitation" or "Holy Thursday Visitation," is a custom observed in some Catholic communities, particularly in countries like Italy, Spain, and the Philippines. It involves visiting seven different churches on the evening of Holy Thursday, following the Mass of the Lord's Supper.
During this pilgrimage, participants typically pray and meditate at each church, often focusing on the Stations of the Cross, the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary, or other devotions. It's a time for reflection and spiritual contemplation, commemorating the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion on Good Friday.
The number seven symbolizes completeness or perfection in many religious traditions, so visiting seven churches on Holy Thursday is seen as a way to fully participate in the commemoration of Christ's passion and death.
This tradition is not universal across all Catholic communities, but where it is practiced, it serves as a meaningful way for believers to deepen their faith and connect with the solemnity of the Easter Triduum.
EPIC Chapters Adoration Pilgrimage
Each of our EPIC Chapters is planning its own respective pilgrimage that all are welcome to participate in. Although the tradition is to visit seven churches, due to geographical and timing challenges, the Chapters will be doing a modified version of the pilgrimage. Please find the chapter schedules below.
